Privacy policy pursuant to the GDPR (“Privacy Regulation”) no. 679/2016
This website uses proprietary technical cookies in order to render its services more efficient and simple to use. Third party cookies may also be used, which detect the users’ browsing data. For information on data processing, the Data Controller and third subjects, see the “Privacy Policy” available on the Data Controller’s website. By using the website, the user declares to have viewed the cookie policy.
What are the cookies?
Cookies are small text files sent by the site to the user’s terminal (usually the browser), where they are stored and then re-transmitted to the site when the user logs in afterwards. A cookie cannot recall any other data from the user’s hard disc, nor transmit computer viruses or acquire email addresses. Each cookie is unique for the user’s web browser. Some cookie functions can be deferred to other technologies. In this document, the term ‘cookie’ refers to actual cookies and to all similar technologies. Through the cookies, it is possible to register information concerning your preferences, such as browsed pages or files downloaded from the site or other similar actions carried out when browsing the site. By disabling the cookies, some of our services may not function properly and you may not be able to access numerous functions thought to optimise your browsing experience on the site. For further information on how to manage or disable the browser’s bookies, see the last section of this document.
Duration of the cookies
The persistence of cookies in the user’s browser is determined when created; based on their duration, cookies can be distinguished in:
- temporary or session cookies: they are used to store temporary information, they allow relating actions performed during a specific session and they are eliminated by the computer when closing the browser;
- permanent cookies: they are used to store information that must be accessible for longer than the session; they are characterised by an expiry date that can be long or short, depending on the scope of the single cookie.
These remain stored in the computer also after closing the browser.
The so-called session cookies, used in this site, avoid resorting to other IT techniques that may be detrimental for the users’ browsing privacy and do not allow acquiring personal information that identifies the user; they are eliminated when logging off this website.
Nature of the cookies
Cookies can be distinguished according to origin:
- First party cookies: in general, cookies of this type originate from the same domain of the site being browsed. This is called first party cookie. They can be of persistent or session type;
- Third party cookies: third party cookies belong to domains other than the one shown in the address bar. These types of cookies appear in general when the web pages feature contents, such as advertising banners, from external websites. This implies the possibility to monitor the user’s browsing history and they are often used by advertisers with the attempt to offer relevant and custom ads to each user. Most of modern web browsers contain privacy set-ups that are able to block third party cookies.
According to the scope, they are distinguished in:
- Technical cookies: they are used for browsing and to facilitate access and exploitation of the site by the user. Technical cookies are essential to exploit the site contents or allow the persistence of login information without the need for the user to constantly enter it (browsing cookies), to keep track of the selected language or setups. (function cookies)
- Analytical cookies: they are used to optimise the site, directly by the Data Controller, who can collect information in aggregate form on the number of users and their browsing activity on the site. At these conditions, the same rules apply to analytical cookies with regards to privacy policy and consent, as those foreseen for technical cookies.
- Profiling cookies: these cookies have the scope to propose targeted ads to the user, for example, they are based on his behaviour in order to display the most interesting information according to the behaviour and interests expressed while browsing or to avoid offering services that the user has rejected in the past.
- Social network cookies: these are cookies that allow sharing the contents of the site being browsed, with other users. These cookies are generally used to activate “I like” or “Follow” functions of Social Networks such as Facebook and Twitter, just to mention a few. These functions allow the Social Networks to identify their users and collect information also when they are browsing other sites.

- Google Analytics: These are monitoring cookies to generate statistics on the site use. Google Analytics uses cookies in our site that do not store personal data and are deposited on the user’s computer to allow the site manager to analyse how the users browse the site. We adopted tools that reduce the cookies’ identification potential by hiding significant IP sections. To prevent storing the afore-cited cookies, the user can download a specific additional component at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Google AdWords/Doubleclick: The Data Controller uses this pixel to know which of his keywords generate the highest number of clicks on Google and conversions in services requested by the “Data Controller” (e.g. sales or registration to campaigns). This tool indicates to the Data Controller, what happened after the users clicked his Google ad: for example, if they have purchased a product from the e-shop or registered to a campaign. Thanks to this information, the “Data Controller” identifies the most effective keywords for his activity. Go to the following page to disable this cookie.
- Facebook conversion pixels: It allows the Data Controller to monitor the conversions that take place on his website as result of the ads followed on Facebook. For example, if the Data Controller wishes to monitor purchases or subscriptions to a particular campaign published on Facebook, the cookie notifies Facebook each time a user has completed a purchase or subscribed to a particular campaign on the Data Controller’s site. Facebook compares the conversion event with the group of people to whom the ad was shown or who clicked on it, in order to provide information to the Data Controller, that help him to understand the return on the investment for his advertising costs. Go to the following page to disable this cookie.
- Facebook Connect: It allows users already registered to Facebook to login the site without asking the access credentials entered during the registration phase. The Data Controller can adopt Facebook Connect system and cookies if you voluntarily use them, to integrate the Data Controller’s login with your Facebook account. In addition to simplify the registration process, Facebook Connect allows the website to extend some social network functions to the site itself, thus being able to share contents through Facebook more easily: for these reasons, the Data Controller may use the Facebook Connect system to collect personal data from your Facebook account. These data can be processed by Facebook, in some cases and upon your consent, for marketing and/or analytical scopes, and not only to provide the service. The same scopes are also pursued with the Twitter Button system. Go to the following page to disable this cookie.
